This is also something that is especially true for Lauren Duck, who lost her limb in a freak accident. The 21 -year-old, with an unparalleled sense of humour, has incorporated her extreme misfortune into her Halloween costume and it’s truly epic. Duck, from San Diego, has garnered an enormous following online as a result of her witty updates in which she uses the loss of her limb as the centres of her jokes. Earlier this year, “shes gone” viral after her amusing Tinder bio was shared online. “Hands down the best catch on tinder, ” her profile read, before listing her qualities: “face 10/10, torso 9/10, personality 20/10, arms 1/2. ” Not only that, but she had also listed her profession as an “arms dealer.” Duck lost her limb in a freak accident on June 29 th, 2016, which she recalled for Buzzfeed News :
“I was moving fairly fast on a mope and lost control of it, and I reach the median in the road. I winged off and reached a sign and it sliced my arm off. I remained conscious the whole time.”
Whilst on the No Jumper podcast, Lauren explained how she was “going like 60 miles per hour, in like a 50 zone” when she veered and was propelled from her motorcycle before “a sign sliced[ her] arm, like, clean off. It flew like 30 feet, from my body.” Fortunately, she was saved by a police officer on the scene who had just received tourniquet training. “I remember I asked the cop,’ Hey, am I gonna succumb? ’ and he mentioned,’ No, you’ll be fine, ‘” she told. Duck likewise recalled how physicians ALMOST saved her limb: “Doctors affixed my limb back for, like, two months, but in research hospitals during the course of its surgery where they’re reconnecting the rest of my nerves they like became me and I lost blood flowing. “I bought like this$ 4 influences makeup kit and some gauze and merely threw it on last night. I strolled through my living room last nighttime with it on and my roommate had a friend over and they both nearly had a heart attack. People seem to be a fan of the Halloween costume.”
“This is the first time I’ve done anything cool since losing an limb. I guess it was practise I was just trying it out. I’m going to do it on Halloween but I’m going to use better makeup.” Users online were quick to comment that the 21 -year-old had “won Halloween”, with one commenter typing: “You’re unbelievable your beautiful and simply a fantastic attitude.” Meanwhile others were slow to understand the costume, with several commenting that it was “photoshopped”.
